The FN P90 is a selective fire personal defense weapon (PDW) designed and
manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. The P90's name is taken from 1990, the
year it was introduced. The P90 was created in response to NATO requests for a
replacement for 9×19mm Parabellum firearms; it was designed as a compact
but powerful firearm for vehicle crews, operators of crew-served weapons,
support personnel, special forces and counter-terrorist groups.
The P90 is currently in service with military and police forces in over 40
nations, such as Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Malaysia, Poland, and
the United States. In the United States, the P90 is in use with over 200 law
enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service. The standard selective
fire P90 is restricted to military and law enforcement customers, but since
2005, a semi-automatic carbine version has been offered to civilian shooters as
I have to say the P90 for me has been an eye opener, ever since the beta
release of CSGO and all the talk about the SMG having far greater power than in
previous Counter-Strike titles it hasn't been until I've started playing with
this weapon in competitive matches have I begun to really value what it can do.
In fact I've played many of matches with nothing more than this weapon which
has really added to the dynamics of the team I play for.
Not only is the weapon cheap to purchase helping on the cash front but also
provides that "hard hitting, rushing" availability within the team.
This can be very important when up against a strong team that you're unable to
pick off with rifles.
Also with an SMG such as the P90 you are less vulnerable to surprise attacks as
you would be on a rifle or sniper weapon such as the AWP. The P90 unlike most
of the other SMG's doesn't perform to badly at long range. When controlling you
rate of fire (burst fire) releasing only a few rounds at a time towards the
upper body and head area the results are pretty good.
However the weapon does come with some negative points such as it's extremely
slow reload action and compared to other SMG's the P90 does feature at the
higher price end meaning when cash is low and you are either on a eco/safe buy
round this weapon is kind of "off limits" really.
Like all SMG's the best results come from fast, up close, spray and pray
action, if you like to hold back and play slow this weapon really isn't for
that type of play.
My final word on the P90, it's not for all players but if you want a really
strong competitive team this weapon really should feature some place on your
terrorist line-up, try it.
