I gave up after reading the first few posts, but i saw that one about putting in a script so you have to click accept rules

Tbh, its our server, they should accept our rules or get lost. Clicking "agree" gives us leverage which we dont even need. Its our server, they can get over it

it is the best way to show people what the rules are tho unless your gonna change the motd how are people going to know what the rules are if any yes there will be some people that will read them in the forums but for the otheres that just join random servers they will never know there are any rules in place .

Cant Mani Admin help in that process with its adverts that we can place up saying some of the basic rules like "Rules: No Racism on the server is allowed" and/or "For a full set of rules please go to this thread..." which may entice people to visit our website (win win)

Generally, a "No Racism" is a rule on every server. If people are going to be racist then telling them not to won't really help and you're going to end up having to kick them (and ban those who don't learn once they've been kicked).

Putting an advert up to get people onto the website is a good idea but a lot are going to be put off by the signing up process...

No one reads server rules anyway... Why are we trying to be like a company with policies etc. Like you said put a 3 liner (small print if you like) and then use the rest of the space to display what ppls will look at, like big boobies!! Ok maybe not that but adverting in a smart catching way that will make ppls visit the site etc would be the best use of any motd.

anyone with an ounce of common sense know what general rules they should obey when joining a public server. if people are acting out of line then just burn them.

never underestimate the predictability of stupidity on pub servers lol
