Today me be chatting to non other than the 'batty boy' of the HLCCL &
'DemonUK' Half-Life fragger Janer!
Hello mate,
Frist off when did you start playing HL? I remember
back in 1999 seeing you in BW servers under the name Janer^marx
I started playing late september 1999 and got to know this bloke called
Harpo-Marx so marx became my very 1st clan.
How did you get into the HLCCL?
Well... I was with -marx- clan simply enough our leader was Chico -Marx-
brilliant mastermind who later found notoriety as 'Maidak' of clan 'KKFM'
Back in them days the HLCCL was hosted under
'Wireplay' and there were only a few divisions unlike these days which have up
to 5-7 divisions. Do you think it was better in them days?
No my favorite memories are when it was 7 divisions... I love playing Demon
servers and when players accused me of cheating I loved saying I was only a
division 5 player... I wonder what they would make of division 1 and so on...
HeeHee yeah that is fun :) When players ask me who I
remeber best from the old Wireplay days I think of names like -[MaGiX]-,
[BUD]Angel, [BUD]BeNzE-@nT etc... Who stood out in your eyes back
then?
Well funnily enough when I was new to HL scene the 1st ever
"superstar" I came across was Angel. I was in awe of him... Never got
on at 1st now we are best of mates and we have very close 1v1's. Also I was
around when Killer Rabbits (KR) were the 'dogs bollocks'!!
Yeah -KR- just owned all... Mind you [pmers] were not
far behind... talking of clan what made you join RFC?
Well unless you know the politics of Northern Ireland I came across this bloke
called Ulster (perspicuous offa from forums) and straight away from his name
knew he was a loyalist (my enemy kind of) and I was intrigued by his bluntness
etc. He begged me for ages to join and being the big headed f**k I am I
eventually went soft after all his compliments and joined, I also enjoy our bad
boy reputation.
That is funny yet I kinda know what you mean... You
really hate something yet deep inside you want to become that evil bad thing
yourself... Talking of which who are the 3 most evil, badest HL players you
love to hate?
Believe in Jesus... He is the 1st, we are very evenly matched yet I not fond of
his style. I use the name 'Believe in JANER' when I meet him.
I enjoy beating/playing anyone from the HLCCL... A lot more pride at stake.
Others who I hate losing to are players who I was better then who have now
become better than me!! by the way I should mention the next HL superstar now
[LMG]Death... Going to snare him for [RFC] soon... He is progressing quicker
than an Iranian earthquake!
Really, I'll have to keep an eye out on him.
eForce^Osyres is a hot name on my books... Just not 100% trusting on eForce at
the moment, but I'm sure they don't cheat.
Also hate losing to any fakenickors "player" etc.
I bet, You like me almost live in DemonUK servers...
tell me who are the top Demon bunnies in your view?
Ok top Demon Bunnies well... After me (snigger
 ) I would have to say Freeman from KKX who wears the santa model and
uses the original name of "player"
Scream of [Pmers] has decided to come back to Demon and beleieve it or not when
he is on form even though he dies alot Firefly can be shit hot at Booty..
What do think of those you hax in Demon, we both
played against aimbot users in Demon but would you like to say anything to
those who hax?
Well yes... First and foremost I am such a HL junkie that I hate going onto a
server either late or very early and can not find any servers with people
playing. I.E. I try to encourage newbies when they are at the stage where they
are on the verge of giving up HL and I try to coax them about how good the game
is and give out many tips. I have to admit I can get very aggressive towards
cheaters and will follow them from server to server and be very aggressive,
being an ex-Demon admin I am aghast at how much proof they need before they ban
someone. Being a 24/7 player I wish I was reinstated as an admin because I know
the ins and outs of the everyday life of Demon servers including mouthy gits
and cheats.
Why did you leave the ranks of Demon Admin then
mate?
er... lol
sensitive issue but can only put it this way I protected a few friends who were
accused of sending aggressive e-mails to a HLCCL community member... where I
come from we never "grass" pity because I was doing a good job ....to
be honest only 2nd to Rich aka eP][Plaguey (a true Demon admin legend)
Yes EP-Rich is top dog for server admin skills, Has
the HLCCL ever asked you to become Admin for them?
No! Which I have to admit is disappointing...To be honest I work every 2nd
Sunday and know they could be seen using this as an easy get out clause not to
use me... I know I have this "fight the power" attitude but truth be
known Dilbert and I are quiet close. I though would prefer to have my Demon
admin powers back as I play those servers 24/7 and have introduced numerous
players to Demon I know the ins and outs of Demon better than anyone else.
On the subject of cheaters what do you make of all
those who are getting pulled up over this OpenGL32.dll by server protection
classing it as a hax?
ooohhh, even though I am extremely anti cheat I can also sympathise with these
lads. I have nightmares in case the pc 'noob' I am ever make a silly mistake
like this but I won't mention any names who may be in the process of having
their cases reviewed. I can understand the strictness of HLCCL though, there
has to be a strict code for cheats & cheaters.
You mentioned back there about Dilbert... There is
clearly a split in the HLCCL community over Dilbert. Firstly who's side are you
on? Secondly do you think Dilbert has asked for this treatment against him
because of his actions & the high rank position he's in?
Look the way I see it... In my time there has being a few different leaders. I
think the best ever where Eddz and now Dilbert I may have a lot of
disagreements with him but he is defiantly the only one that springs to my mind
capable of being HLCCL boss at this time. He would be the 1st to admit that my
"moans" are part and parcel of being a leader. (hlccl leader that
should read)
Do you think the HLCCL will still be around in HL2
years?
Oh but of course! Remember I had never being to a LAN before I joined this
community and I am "engaged" in a few forums at any one time and I
have never seen the "comradeship" that this community has. It migh
not be the biggest but defiantly the "tightest" community. I love it
to be honest. Call me a 'geek' if you may but I have made many friends through
the HLCCL.
Every one knowns Janer from the 'batty' posts in the
HLCCL forums but tell us why the green hair?
Er I have had my hair Green, Red, Blue and Bleached this year. What most people
forget about me is I am a Punk rocker! I First dyed my hair in 1983 long before
any of you "juveniles" were born
oooOOOooo, talking of punks which 3 'punks' or players
do you respect the most in the HL world & why?
Firefly for taking the cr*p that he does. Ok he does get "ratty"
about binds etc but he sticks by it.
Good old Firefly (Mike) he's a good geeza & a fine
DM-er (ex-MOD too)
Sfinkta and Unidentified_flying_object 2 lads who never ever moan and play at
all hours of the morning.
...and to any newbie that sticks out the initial hard introductory months and
stick by it.
Good call
Special mention goes to Windy who will always say "pld" to me when I
beat him the odd time that I do.
What do you think of these 'quick bow'
scripts?
I am anti script person... BIG TIME!!!
Good to hear
I took 3 years to learn 'bow' and 'tau' and get very annoyed at these quick
script users... I have very good old school friend called 'Lunatic' from DHD
and he is back to the scene he was asking 'Jay' and I for these scripts as good
as a friend I am to him I just laughed at him and er abused him. He said it was
hard without them.

business?
lol... I have had it and not had it rofl
Anyone that says EAX and A3D are similar are LIATS!
I used to leave a satchel in the LJ in Stalkyard and anywere over map could
hear when some one got the LJ... I would just sit and when I heard those magic
words yeah but I have to say I am impressed! Just set the satchel off rofl
EAX is just a good quality sound, I am anti A3D by the way
I did notice it was the Euros mostly who cried about losing it
You get a lot of enjoyment from beating players in
1v1's but who has been your greatest victory?
well... I don't play 1v1's much now but these are the ones that stand out
-[ArmA.Switch]- and [GLC]Dilbert have both walked out of 1v1's because of my
"ugly style"
ooo thats bad I've never walked out of a 1v1 before...
although I have to say I gave up in kind of poor style to [pmers]braves but
then again why play if you're not enjoying the game.
have mention Momi and Sod and yourself when of course you are a better
player... I have a very awkward style, but my best victory was over the
legendary -[D]-TiM on Data, was over 3 years ago mind you. I also wallow in my
refusal to give rematches to the big scalps

Anyway you've been a big part of the HLCCL community & you do bring some
fun & giggles to it. One final question... Do you watch
'Bo-Selector'?
Well first time I ever seen it was at a LAN just like Jackass... Yes I do...
It's not bad... Not brill but passable :/
Groovy, because after 4 years of JANER in HL it's been
proper bo!!!
